  I had the most horrific experience because of this office and it haunts me today. First, the billing manager told me I had to pay a deposit for my Disc Replacement surgery, $7000. She said I would get it back once my insurance paid. She said "everyone who had my insurance has always been covered 100%" and that "if my insurance denied the claim they would submit an appeal because Dr Cohn is the only neurosurgeon in Alaska" and then it would be paid. Unfortunately for me it cost me about $15,000 from my own pocket because she lied to me. When I was upset about it she reminded me of the signs in the lobby that state the bill is my responsibility. Had I known the truth I would have had the procedure done by the surgeon who did my 2nd opinion. I was never given the opportunity to meet the approach surgeon. I had a hard time finding out who she was also because this office billed my insurance as if Dr Cohn's PA had done the approach surgery. It was only after 4 months of being lied to about what was done to me that I was given her information and told, "we don't know what's inside you, we don't have your records, it was done by..."!!! I was having extreme pain in my abdomen. I was told the two bumps protruding from my side were "heavy gage dissolvable stitches" over and over again. After 4 months they couldn't tell me what had been left inside me. I was in shock. I saw this other woman, the actual approach surgeon, and she said "oh, those are permanent stitches. I had to attach your gut-sack to your side." Just writing this causes me to shake. Those permanent stitches were tearing on the inside. I would drop to the floor because of the pain. I could feel the internal bleeding. The woman who mangled me left the state years ago according to my doctor. STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE!!! They lied to me about my physical condition and what my insurance would cover. They cost me way more money than I even had and a lifetime of pain. They only care about making money.
